US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said his country is building an international coalition to guard the Strait of Hormuz, adding that it will include countries from all over the world.
"We are working to change the behavior of the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we are forming an alliance that is patrolling the Straits of Hormuz to keep these sea lanes open," Pompeo said in an interview with WVT.
"This alliance will involve countries from all over the world."
Iran seized the ship "Stina Empero" in the Strait of Hormuz, last Friday, in what appeared to be a response to Britain's detention of an Iranian carrier, two weeks earlier.
A naval force from Iran's Revolutionary Guards took the British carrier to the port of Bandar Abbas, carrying 23 crew members.
British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Saturday that "Iran has chosen a dangerous and destabilizing route in the Gulf after the seizure of the Iranian oil tanker" Grace 1 "in Gibraltar earlier.
