The delegations of all parties participating in the Astana talks to resolve the Syrian crisis arrived in the capital city of Kazakhstan, where the 13th round of talks will begin on Thursday.
The participants are expected to hold a series of bilateral and trilateral consultations on Friday, followed by a plenary meeting on Friday, which will issue a joint statement by the three countries that are sponsoring the Astana process - Russia, Turkey and Iran.
The Russian delegation is headed by the Russian president's special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentev, the Turkish delegation, "Sedat Onal", the deputy foreign minister, and the Iranian delegation, the assistant president for political affairs Ali Asghar Haji.
Syrian delegation is headed by the Syrian Government and opposition by Syria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Bashar al-Jaafari, and Brigadier General Ahmed Tohma.
Earlier, the Kazakh foreign ministry expressed its regret over the apology of the UN envoy to Syria, Pedersen, for attending the talks for health reasons.
